Following the flood that hit the city of Alba in 1994, during which the flooding of the river Tanaro severely damaged the headquarters of offices and warehouses, it was decided a change of venue in a different area on the outskirts west of the city. Here there were placed all the buildings used as warehouses, laboratories, offices and services.
The office building, separated from the rest, is located in the area facing the road.
The project is divided into two volumes clearly different in shape, size and use of materials, joined by a small glass block intended to be the entrance and reception.
The low volume in brick hosts the operational offices, while the tall one, characterized by the use of wood and curtain walls, contains the executive offices.
The basement is used mainly for operations-services: to this end it is protected by an airlock, most of it is open-work and allow lots of light.
The building is characterized by a cutting-edge plant equipment and has been created with support structure in reinforced concrete cast in place and the use of the following materials:
- façade - solid bricks at sight, cladding in boards of cedar wood assembled into panels simply attached to the walls, protected by continuous insulating outer coat. The wood trim in red cedar of Canada is removable,
- windows - exterior aluminum profiles with thermal insulating glass with low emissivity , completed inside and outside with curtains of glass fiber,
- internal dividers - are " movable walls" in crystal with air chamber,
- floors – floating in dark granite,
- systems - the heating system is mixed, with fan coils and primary ventilation; thermal power stations and ventilation are placed on the covering and may be reached through the external spiral staircase,
- furniture - most of the operative offices use standard forniture, while the executive offices are equipped with furniture designed specifically for this building.
