Piazza Duomo and La Piola restaurants opened in the Piazza Duomo square in the center of Alba. The Ceretto family inaugurated the two restaurants, housed in a single building, together with Chef Enrico Crippa.
The project represents a new and ambitious challenge underlining the importance placed by the Ceretto family on its native territory and its passion for art and culture. La Piola, on the ground floor, expresses the most authentic traditions of strictly Langa-style dishes, served alongside a selection of local wines. In Piazza Duomo, 3-Michelin Star Chef Enrico Crippa gives free reign to his creativity and knowledge of raw materials, making imaginative use of colors and designs, perfectly in tune with the creations of the artists invited by American designer Bill Katz to enrich the restaurant space. On the tables of La Piola one can find a small gallery, with plates designed by artists including Donald Baecheler, James Brown, Robert Indiana, Kiki Smith, Philip Taaffe, Terry Winters, John Baldessarri, Lynn Davis, and Thomas Noskowsky, while Francesco Clemente is the author of the fresco adorning the walls of the Piazza Duomo restaurant.
The Ceretto family is one of the largest vineyard proprietors in Piedmont with more than 160 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, located primarily in the Langhe and Roero region, including in the prestigious DOCG areas of Barolo and Barbaresco.
Through the years, the family's attention has turned to visual arts outside of packaging, initiating collaborations with famed artists and architects on numerous projects intended to enhance the various family estates.
